Tom Policelli – Co-Founder & CEO
At United Healthcare, Tom served as President of iPlan, United's consumer-driven healthcare business. Tom grew membership dramatically and launched the Health Savings Accounts product prior to United's acquisition of Definity Health, then the second-largest CDHP player. Tom then founded the Healthcare Financial Solutions business within United, launching OnePay in early 2006.
Tom began his career at CIGNA Healthcare in underwriting and sales, and also cofounded Monitor Company's healthcare practice.
Tom earned an MBA from the Harvard Business School, and a BA from Wesleyan University.
Grady Clouse – Co-Founder & SVP Business Development
Grady is a co-founder of Averde and formerly served as CEO of Purkinje, an awardwinning electronic medical record company. At Purkinje, he led the turnaround of the US business and re-branded the company after the acquisition of Canada's largest EMR vendor.
Prior to Purkinje, Grady built one of the first PalmOS charge capture applications while at ePhysician, and served as a management consultant at CSC Healthcare (formerly APM).
Grady earned an MBA from the Harvard Business School, and a BA from Wesleyan University.
William Carroll – SVP Network Development
Prior to joining Averde Health, Bill was VP of Network Operations at ConnectiCare for several years where he oversaw all aspects of provider network operations, contract negotiations, provider relations and expansion efforts.
Prior to ConnectiCare, Bill held several leadership positions at FHP in San Diego, California and had oversight of Network Operations and Corporate Expansion.
Robert Chin – CIO
Bob co-founded NaviMedix, a leading innovator in web-based communications between healthcare providers and their business partners, now serving over 650,000 medical practitioners across the country.
Prior to NaviMedix, Bob served as Chief Information Officer at Healthsource and Tufts Health Plan, and was a member of the turnaround team at Oxford Health Plan.
Edward Vozzo – SVP Finance & Operations
Ed Vozzo serves as SVP Finance & Operations at Averde Health. He formerly served as Director ofthe Strategic Initiatives Office at The Hartford. Prior to the Hartford, Vozzo served as Director of Capital Planning and Capital Controller at United Health Group and its Uniprise Division.
Vozzo began his career in project finance at ExxonMobil. He graduated from the United States Military Academy and served as an officer in the US Army. He received his MBA from Yale University School of Management.
Roberta (Bert) Wachtelhausen – SVP Sales and Marketing
Bert most recently served as SVP of Sales and Marketing for Meritain Health, one of the nation's leading TPAs, where she re-branded the company, launched the Meritain brand, and created a successful new distribution strategy for the company.
Prior to Meritain, Bert held a number of senior positions at CIGNA Healthcare. After field management assignments in New York and Boston, Bert led a start-up Corporate Cross-Selling initiative out of CIGNA headquarters in Philadelphia. Her last assignment was based in Bloomfield, CT where was Sr. Vice President of National Account Sales at CIGNA Healthcare.
Gene Cavanaugh – Advisor
Gene formerly served as a member of the UnitedHealth Group executive leadership, as Senior Vice President for Operations as well as CFO of Uniprise, where he was responsible for all of United Healthcare's call and claims operations.
Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group, Gene spent seven years at Arthur Andersen, ultimately leading the outsourcing practice in Philadelphia. He also spent eight years arranging and managing LBOs of mid-sized manufacturing firms for a private equity firm and six years as corporate accounting director for two manufacturing companies.
